Offenbach – Frankfurt – Fulda – Erfurt – Weimar – Quedlinburg – Halberstadt – Magdeburg – Helmstedt – Braunschweig

9th to 13th June 2012

Our travel schedule:

1st day: Meet in Offenbach at the Achat Hotel, 4-Stars, Ernst-Griesheimer-Platz 7 63071 Offenbach. Optional dinner in the hotel restaurant (not included in price).

 

Offenbach

2nd day: After buffet breakfast we have a guided tour of Offenbach. We will see the Renaissance Castle and the many historic industrial monuments. After a short drive to Frankfurt we have time for a quick lunch, then a guide will show us the highlights of the city. We will see the Opera, the Stock Exchange, the Römer and many other sights. In the evening we will stay at Maritim hotel, 4-stars, Pauluspromenade 2 in (36037) Fulda. After check in we will have a guided walking tour through the baroque city before an evening in the “Brewhouse Wiesenmühle”. It’s a traditional old country style small brewery with the largest mill wheel in Europe. We will have dinner and of course a beer tasting!

 

Weimar Weimar

3rd day: In the morning we will drive directly to Buchenwald, a concentration camp memorial. You will have a tour by an audio guide. After, a 30 minutes’ drive takes us to “Schiller- and Goethe-City Weimar”. You will have a guided tour to see the theatre, the library, the famous park and many other things. In the afternoon we will explore Erfurt with a guided tour by “Mr. Luther” himself!
He will show us the famous dome, the bridge and of course the cloister where Luther stayed a long time. In the evening we will have a Medieval Banquet with “Bänkelsänger” at the historic cellar of the museum restaurant. You stay the night at the InterCity hotel, 4-stars, Willy-Brand-Platz 11, 99084 Erfurt.

 

Quedlinburg

4th day: Today we visit two famous small villages in the Harz - Quedlinburg and Halberstadt both World Heritage Sites with historic buildings. For the Night we will stay at the Best Western Hotel Geheimer Rat, Goethestraße 38, 39108 Magedeburg.

 

 



5th day: Helmstedt. We will visit the “Zonengrenzmuseum”. The guide there will tell us what happened during the time of the wall between West and East Germany. In the afternoon we drive to Braunschweig in time for the European Conference of JCI.
