About JCI BraunschweigJCI Braunschweig was founded in 1977. It has an excellent track record in organizing conferences: 2 Northern German Area Conferences (1985, 2003), one National Conference (1991) and most recently the German National Spring Conference (2009). Currently JCI Braunschweig consists of 69 members, 21 guest members (on probation), 33 sustaining members and 9 Senators. It also has an alumniorganisation with 39 members.
JCI Braunschweig is the most active LOM in the northern German area. Apart from the presidents’ program, all activities are hosted within 5 project groups:setting up new businesses, education, internal affairs, international affairs and politics. Approximately 10 % of the members are from abroad, speaking a variety of (European) languages.
After several meetings with its “advisory board” JCI Braunschweig 2006 held a general assembly to ask the members for their support to continue with the planned bid for a European Conference to be held in 2012 or beyond. Immediately afterwards the German National Board was officially informed about the chapter’s ambition to host a European Conference in Braunschweig. During the National Conference 2008 in Berlin-Potsdam JCI Braunschweig was officially chosen by the delegates as Germany’s candidate city to host the EC in 2012 or beyond.
